What size is a large Buffalo Special 6 Shirt ?

[STAFF RESPONSE]

Dan,

The Buffalo Special 6 Shirt doesn't come in a 'Large' size as such (although some sites do size them as this incorrectly). The sizes are actually measured by chest size. As a general rule though, a large would be either a 42" or a 44". (Posted on 03/02/2015)

I have worn Buffalo clothing, hill walking, also capsized in a Scottish Loch, didn't feel the cold, when I got to shore after being rescued, I unzipped the side zip and realised I was dry!

Buffalo instantly warm when put on, just think they are great, so will you after a purchase!

I found this site on the net, great prices, fast delivery, Parcel force notifications very helpful.

Many thanks (Posted on 15/10/2014)

Just replaced my 22 year old Big Face Shirt with another one. When it comes to winter, this piece of kit is essential. (Posted on 07/10/2014)
Essential! Review by Ian

Just about to replace my well loved Special 6 shirt from this site. Its been going for some 20 years, been to Annapurna base camp, spent many weekends on the crags of Yorkshire, winter climbed in Scotland and bivvied out in some wild places. Its never let me down - gained a few holes along the way and the pertex shell is suffering from age and wear, hence replacement time.

This is the best piece of kit I have ever owned - keeps you warm in the worst of conditions without the encumbrance of many layers. So glad I can get a replacement at such short notice from this site - great work!

Owned mine for 24 years now. Worn constantly for nine years in the TA, I've skied in it and worn it virtually every cold and windy day in the UK - and let's face it that's most of the time! About to buy another, and let's hope it lasts just as long. (Posted on 22/06/2013)

2008 - coldest Easter in years! Review by Haydon Aldersey

I was doing a traverse of Hadrian's wall and weather threw everything at us; gale force wind, sleet, snow and the days warmed up to -1C.
My special 6 shirt teamed with Buffalo salopettes kept me warm, enabling me to complete the three days comfortably.
If you have not been there in winter Hadrian's wall is pretty exposed when North Easterlies blow. Yet I only used a light base layer under my buffalo system. My kit was ten years old too which is a testament to its durability and function.
I highly recommend this. (Posted on 14/11/2012)
Once you get used to the idea you will never look back Review by Peter Lewis

The first time you actually wear this Buffalo shirt in adverse conditions you soon realise how effective it is in keeping your body warm even when wet.

This special 6 version is made of the slightly heavier Pertex 6 material and is designed for late autumn and winter conditions, and will be simply too warm for any temperatures over 10oC.

The wind wicking properties of Pertex is legendary and the Pertex 6 weave is designed for seriously bad weather, the kind we usually associate with late autumn early winter.

This is a garment that one should be able to try before you buy because once you have discovered the merits of the Pertex/pile idea you will be a convert.

Ask yourself why many of the UK Mountain Rescue Teams choose to wear Buffalo clothing, the reason behind it is that the clothing works amazingly well and due to its quality manufacture it is very hardwearing.

A bit of kit that has now been around for over thirty years and unlike waterproof garments works equally well dry or soaking wet. (Posted on 12/10/2012)

I work for Royal Mail in Scotland and wear it all the time in the winter - snow, rain, wind and the cold because all the Royal Mail waterproofs are not as good (Posted on 04/10/2012)

on my 3rd now (my 2nd is still fine and my 1st was lost by easyjet). i just love my buffalo. have used it in the alps, the uk everyday when working in outdoor pursuits, for cycling. it has never let me down and has lasted for ever. got a few rips in the pertex from scrambling but they don't go any further. is an art to taking it off in a small tent but i trust mine to keep me warm whatever. and as the advert says it is just as warm wet or dry and you really can keep it on overnight if it is wet and it will be dry in the morning (Posted on 01/06/2012)
Special 6 is really special! Review by Jezza

I bought the special 6 shirt a couple of months ago after one of my mates recommended and let me try his. I have instantly fallen in love with this bit of kit. The warmth the garment provides is brilliant and temperature is easily regulated using the side zips. There is a strap inside the front pocket which can be tensioned to stop any draughts blowing up. The shirt works best as a base layer with nothing underneath as the materials are designed to take away moisture quickly and evaporate, and I will have to agree, I have had the shirt soaking wet and was still warm and it dried out fairly quick. The only downside I could think of is trying to take the shirt off, it looks like you are trying to wrestle yourself. Anyway buy this product! I will certainly be buying another when this one eventually falls off my back. Made in England too. (Posted on 02/01/2012)

I have owned one for ten years now, It has kept me warm and survived everything I've thrown at it! It has survived army operations, expeditions to arctic Norway, hillwalking in the UK and general wear and tear! Best item of clothing I have ever bought, with no equal! A must have for all outdoor necessities! (Posted on 19/10/2011)

Had a couple of these over the years; I've literally abused them and they come back for more. Warm, comfortable and excellent in awful conditions under a hard shell outer. Even wet through they still keep you warm (as long as you are moving!!) (Posted on 24/07/2010)
